Filming fees
Spain does not have a single filming fee system.
The application of fees for filming in public buildings and spaces is regulated in accordance with each territory in the country. Concession periods, procedures and rates also vary depending on the type of audiovisual production in question.
In the case of interurban roads and thoroughfares, except those located in the Basque Country, Navarra and Catalonia, the Directorate-General for Traffic issues a special permit, which can be requested online at this link or at the territorial delegations in each autonomous community.
Specific filming fees also apply to natural areas and the use of special and singular facilities.
In the case of cities or municipalities where there are no specific regulations governing filming fees, a public space occupancy fee is normally charged: this refers to those spaces used for filming and parking vehicles or other shooting elements.
As for private properties, production service or property management companies have catalogues of available locations and their fees. In these cases, it will be necessary to negotiate with the owners.
The Spain Film Commission network offices collaborate with the production companies, providing direct contacts and useful information that will enable them to obtain the necessary permits, as well as any possible exemptions from fees in the case of certain spaces.
