Aid for productions
In addition to tax incentives, Spain’s public administrations provide numerous support mechanisms for audiovisual production, provided that a Spanish company or entity is participating. Both the companies and the offices that make up theSpain Film Commission network can provide useful information about these mechanisms.
National
The Spanish Ministry of Culture’s Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute(ICAA)manages grants for the audiovisual industry. It also regulates licences for production companies, tracks cinema attendance, issues start and completion certifications for shootings, classifies films and provides support mechanisms for festivals and the international promotion of Spain’s film industry. Funding announcements are published on the website and most of the procedures for applying for aid can be carried out online. Applications must be made through a company with a registered tax address in Spain.
Regional
Autonomous communities, like their administrative jurisdictions (provincial councils, inter-island and island councils and local authorities), have specific systems for providing grants and promotion for audiovisual productions that are open to local production companies.
In order to find out about these benefits, it is necessary to consult the specific terms and conditions for each territory. In this sense, film commissions, film offices and local companies are all highly efficient sources of information.
You can contact these organisations directly via the map of public culture websites for Spain’s autonomous communities:

Municipal
Some local authorities have a system of exemption from shooting fees, subject to certain terms and conditions. To access these benefits, you are advised to consult local companies or professionals, or the film office, if there is one.
International
Spanish audiovisual production companies may also benefit from European programmes that support the industry.
The Media strand of the Creative Europe programme has four offices that offer advice for professionals: Media Euskadi / Media Catalunya /Media España / Media Andalucía.
The Ibermedia Programme provides a support system for audiovisual co-production between Spain and Latin America, especially in the areas of development, production and training.
