Strategic public infrastructures

Certain spaces, due to their characteristics or special association with an institution of company, have specific regulations for use when filming.

Military facilities

Military buildings and facilities are managed by the Spanish Government’s Ministry of Defence. De acuerdo con su ubicación y funcionalidades, los espacios o medios de carácter militar disponibles para la realización de rodajes suelen estar restringidos . Due to their location and functions, military spaces or elements that can be used for shootings tend to be restricted. However, in recent years, films and television series have been shot in military facilities, including the use of vehicles and materials, thanks to the collaboration of Spain’s Ministry of Defence.

If you wish to use locations of this type, you are advised to contact directly the Ministry of Defence delegation in the autonomous community in which filming is to take place, requesting details of the procedures necessary to apply for permits or collaboration.

Airports

Spain’s civil airports are managed by AENA; filming permits are granted at the offices of each airport, and fees are determined in accordance with the duration and nature of the shooting. More info: AENA (List of airports). Apart from those managed by AENA, a number of privately managed airports are also available: examples include Ciudad Real Airport or Castellón Airportboth with a relatively low level of activity. Public funding in Spain

To film in train stations, a permit must be requested, providing the script of the scenes to be filmed and paying the corresponding fees to the public company Adif, a public business entity under the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.

Adif has a catalog of available spaces where to look for the location by typology or geographic location. At present, there are exclusive or unique locations scattered throughout our country, including modern, historic, classic, small, small stations, railway stations, logistics centers and industrial spaces, other railway infrastructures or unique spaces.

If the scenes are to be shot inside a train, permission must be requested from Renfe. and check that the type of train is on your network. It can also be requested through local networks, either autonomous or provincial. In all cases, the conditions of this type of permit must be checked (fees, deadlines, type of authorized scene, etc.).
