The resulting park has, since the 19th century, been the most important reference point for walks and leisure for Santiago's residents; it is characterised by its pleasant atmosphere, as a kind of natural salon in Santiago de Compostela (La Coruña, Galicia).
Hours of Daylight:15 / 9
Climate:The humid oceanic climate guarantees mild temperatures throughout the year. The annual mean temperature is around 15 o C, with an average of 8 o C in winter and a pleasant summer with temperatures ranging from 20 to 27ºC. Most of the rain falls in winter, with variable amounts in spring and autumn.
Geographical Environment:It has a privileged location, bordering with a part of the old town and with a magnificent view of its west façade, which is the most monumental one.

Historical-Cultural Context:It dates back to the donation of the land to the city by the Count of Altamira, in the mid-16th century. The Garden is described as 'pacego' (applied to ancestry country houses in Galicia, "Pazos") due to its role as a leisure area for the city, in the same manner of the leisure gardens of Galician Pazos.
