Valencia de Cine shows the most cinematic spaces of the City of Arts and Sciences

05/07/2019

City of Arts and Sciences hosts every last Saturday of the month an event called “València de Cine”, an architectonic and cinematographic route through the Palau de les Arts, l’Hemisfèric, Museo Príncipe Felipe and L’Umbracle, with an exclusive entry to all those spaces where well-known films, TV series and advertising spots were shot,

This route, boosted by Fundación Turismo València through València Film Office, was presented in Fitur Cine/ Screen Tourism 2019: the first time that FITUR focused on audio-visual tourism together with Spain Film Commission.

Cinema and TV Series provide a wide range of opportunities to promote nationally and internationally destinations and to discover, sweep and enjoy cities like Valencia from a different perspective: a cinematographic one.

During this visit in Ciutat de les Arts i les Cièncias some anecdotes from the shootings are unveiled while the exact shooting locations of these audio-visual productions are shown. Specifically: Tomorrowland – a Disney production directed by the Oscar-winner Brad Bird, in which George Clooney takes part (Frank Walker)-, the BBC TV Series Doctor Who – Season 10, Chapter “Smile” – the Spanish TV series El Embarcadero – directed by Alex Pina and Esther Martínez – and some Bollywood films, besides of different advertising campaigns.

The City of Arts and Sciences is one of the most interesting spaces for producers because of its futuristic atmosphere and design.

Route “València de Cine”

This route starts with the projection of images from different audio-visual productions shot in the City of Arts and Sciences.

Thus, some of the most notable sites are: Sala Arquerias in Museo Príncipe Felipe (Tomorrowland – where Britt Robertson loses his will to live in a better world-), Hemisfèric in Doctor Who (it simulates a future planet, where a woman warns another about the need of smiling to avoid the Vardy attacking them) or the surroundings of Museo Príncipe Felipe in El Embarcadero (where one of its main characters – Verónica Sánchez – goes jogging with her best friend or the benches where Óscar - Álvaro Morte -  mantains a conversation with his friend).
