The first half of 2018 was the best since the Monegros Film Commission came into operation
So far this year, a total of 35 production companies have been assisted by the Monegros Film Commission and, in particular, during this summer several projects are being shot: a documentary film about Synthwave music, a spot, several short films and a video clip. The activity increases every season, being this year the best regarding shootings ever since the Monegros FC began its activity, which is the first one created in Aragón, working in coordination with the Aragón Film Commission and the Spain Film Commission, and being also part of the latter.
"This proves the pull that Los Monegros has as a filming location, which is very positive for the territory, not only at a promotional level but also economically, as it is a dynamisation and development factor" says Natalia Arazo, director of the County's Tourist Area. "We guide, advice and facilitate the necessary procedures to carry out any audio-visual work in our territory," she adds.
Las saladas de Bujaraloz is the setting for the filming of a documentary film about the international musical movement called Synthwave: contemporary electronic music with strong references in pop culture of the 80’s (cinema, TV series and video games), which is a hit in Internet and begins to stand out in the mass media.
Its director and scriptwriter is Iván Castell, from the Zaragozan production company Castell & Moreno, which is working with a group of Aragon professionals and with the collaboration of other national and international professionals. The Monegros FC provided all the necessary advices about the locations until, finally, "we opted for Las saladas de Bujaraloz as a shooting location, because we needed a desert aesthetic in the film, able to be posed as anywhere in the world. In addition, the long extension of the “saladas” allowed the simulation of a large sandstorm in postproduction, complementing the in situ shot with the study work", says the producer, Silvia Sobrino.
