The creation of a film commission for the province of Soria has been announced
Concurring with the celebration of the I Locations Meeting organized by Soria’s provincial council in collaboration with the International Short Film Contest, the provincial vice-president, Esther Pérez, together with two councilmen of Soria’s City Hall, has announced the creation of the Soria Film Commission, as a tool to attract shootings, support the productions that shoot in this region and boost economy and tourism in Soria.
To initiate the Soria Film Commission, the provincial council and City Hall are working together to create an agreement that, afterwards, will be opened to the rest of city halls of this province that want to join, so all those landscapes, locations and cultural and historical heritage are available for productions.
Esther Pérez has pointed that “this agreement will be the starting signal, and we wanted to bring it together with the Location Meeting”. During this meeting, the economic and touristic benefits that this industry can bring have been highlighted. This was the main reason why the provincial council has been working during months to initiate a film commission that helps to attract shootings and in this manner contribute to the province’s economy.
On the other hand, Emilio Alhambra, secretary of Spain Film Commission, wanted to congratulate Soria’s provincial council and City Hall for this huge effort, and he has pointed that “Soria counts with many advantages such as a good predisposition of its community and the closeness of the public administration”. He has also placed value on the I Location Meeting that took place the last weekend, since “without locations and shooting spots, the territory does not exist”.
Juan Manuel Guimeráns, vice-president of the Spain Film Commission, during the closure of the International Short Film Contest, encouraged the creation of this institution “because this industry can contribute a lot to this region. And you can always count on Spain Film Commission in this project, which needs patience and enthusiasm, but it can end up being a boost for the city and the province”.
