PROFILM, the association of Spanish companies of international audio-visual production, is created
The association representing, according to its website, 90% of the Spanish production companies developing audio-visual projects with third countries, PROFILM, was presented in society yesterday. One of the main objectives of PROFILM is the matching of Spanish tax incentives with those of the rest of the EU countries to attract more foreign productions of audio-visual works.
Chaired by producer Adrián Guerra, it counts among its members with the producers Nostromo Pictures, Sur Film Canarias, Meñakoz Films, Calle Cruzada, Fresco Film Services, Volcano International Productions and Babieka Films.
PROFILM considers that the production of foreign audio-visual works in our country generates great opportunities, both public and private. The diversity and richness of the Spanish landscape and culture, makes our country one of the favourite scenarios for the filming of large and small international productions. The new association of Spanish "services" producers will work to simplify procedures, eliminate obstacles and facilitate the work of the production professionals.
In their presentation they indicate that the current members of the association invest more than one hundred and twenty million euros a year in our country, employing thousands of professionals in this sector and in the service sector. They also state that the vast majority of foreign productions of series and films shot in our country are made by producers that are part of PROFILM.
Its main challenge is to increase the production of foreign films and series in our country. To that end, they will maintain a constant dialogue with the Public Administrations and the sector organizations in order to simplify the procedures so more audio-visual productions choose Spain as a scenario; participate in any public forum allowing the promotion of the production of audio-visual works in Spain, and carry out information and awareness campaigns about the economic, social and artistic opportunities that a shooting provides to a territory.
