Navarra Film Commission presents its first qualitative and economic analysis of assisted filming projects ever: Report of the last 3 years of activity in the region

In the last three years, Navarra Film Commission has assisted 206 projects, resulting in 1.330 days of filming in the region of Navarra. The direct expense is estimated in 37,4 MEUR.

The Counselor of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Government of Navarra, Ana Herrera and Javier Lacunza, General Manager of NICDO (Government owned Company managing sports, culture and leisure programs and infrastructures) have presented the summary of the year 2017. During this year, the audiovisual production activity and promotion of Navarra as a filming hub has resulted in relevant growth.

According to the data reflected in a study requested by Navarra Film Commission and delivered by a consultancy firm specialized in the matter, the direct expense throughout the 2015-2017 period is 37,4 MEUR, out of which 16,1 are related to the last year. The overall economic impact is estimated in 63,7 MEUR and the conversion into tax collection by Public Administration is 8,2 MEUR.

The overall number of projects evolves from 61 to 70 between 2016 and 2017. The growth is based on fiction movies filming (7 to 12) and TV series, with four items in the last year.

Navarra Film Commission works on a collaborative framework with other public and private agents. It is a founding member of the Audiovisual Cluster of Navarra - CLAVNA, together with the local Audiovisual Producers Association of Navarra (NAPAR). CLAVNA was created at the end of 2016 and during the year 2017 has started structuring its strategic planning, sector mapping and Audiovisual Guide of Navarra.

Perspectives for 2018 are optimistic. With a base of ten fiction movies expected for the year, there are also several investment projects in facilities for interior shooting, postproduction and animation in the region of Navarre.
