Malaga Film Office attended a total of 460 audiovisual productions last year.

The Yearly Activity Report issued by Malaga Film Office, the municipal film office which is also linked to the Malaga Film Festival, has proven 2017 to have been a very positive year.  From the 460 audiovisual projects attended, a total of 202 productions were filmed, together with 165 film permits processed in coordination with the different municipal departments, resulting in an investment in the city of 2,257,115 euros.

As has been the case for several years, Spain was the country with the most film shoots in Malaga - with a total of 145 productions - followed by the United Kingdom with 19 and Germany with 7.

By type of production, Short Films were the most to be filmed in Malaga (33 productions), followed by TV Programmes (32). The third place is shared by Still Photography and Corporate Videos with 28 productions each. TV Series were the productions that left to leave the most investment (almost one million Euros), surpassing the Advertising industry in an exceptional way.

The Audiovisual Industry represents an engine of wealth for the city in sectors such as tourism (hotels, restaurants, transport ...), promoting employment (direct hiring of professionals from the local audiovisual industry), as well as contributing to promoting the city on an international level.

As a summary, since its creation in September 2001, Málaga Film Office has attended a total of 4,767 projects, of which 2,299 were finally shot with an economic investment for the city that exceeds 51 million euros (51,189,131 euros).
