Extremadura installs several panels of Game Of Thrones in the filming places of the series in order to inform tourists
The Town Hall from Malpartida de Cáceres has placed information panels in Barrueco de Arriba about the shooting of “Game of Thrones” which was made between the 19th of November and the 12th of December of 2016 with the colaboration of Junta de Extremadura (the driving force behind Extremadura Film Commission) and local and provincial institutions.
This municipality is the place where most time was filmed this series on its seventh season. In the above mentioned panels, the public can see pictures of the diferent fiction scenes ceded by HBO Producer, where it can be visualized the logistic and arrangements which involves each of them.
Since it was announced that the landscape from Barruecos was going to be used as scene to the seventh season of Game of Thrones series, which is produced by the North American television channel HBO, the promotion of the locality “has been incalculable”, at least, in this way assures it the Tourism Officer of the Town Hall from Malpartida, María Paz Leo.
But if something has catapulted the visitors number, that has been the transmission of the fourth episode of the seventh season, on the seventh of August, where takes place the concrete scene filmed in “Los Barruecos”, the battle between the armies of Lannister and Tarly houses in front of Daenerys, Dothrakis and their allies.
The installation of the panels is placed inside of the municipal campaign of tourism promotion named “The Battle of the Dragon” and which has as a target to consolidate the specialised tourism in filming and tv, thanks to the publicity achieved by the series.
Furthermore, among the included actions within this campaign, stands out the creation of information brochures with planes, both access to Barrueco de Arriba as to the location of the different panels and fictitious scenes. These brochures will be handed over at the Tourism Office, Reception Center of Visitor of Natural Monument and other official centres. Likewise it is being elaborated promotional material of the series which will be on sale at the Tourism Office.
