Emily Blunt, new Spain Film Commission Honorary Ambassador
Spain Film Commission has distinguished British actress Emily Blunt as their new Honorary Ambassador during the celebration of FITUR SCREEN at the International Tourism Trade Fair. Since 2018, Spain Film Commission nominates its honorary ambassadors each year. Our ambassadors are personalities of the film industry that contribute to boost our country's culture and attractiveness for international productions.
The distinction comes when Emily Blunt is filming in Spain the new series “The English”, produced by the BBC and Amazon Studios. Spain Film Commission wants to recognise her commitment and support in the continuity of the project despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The institution also underlines the importance of reinforcing the relation between Spain and United Kingdom in audiovisual projects in the Brexit era.
Emily Blunt made her film debut in the drama “My Summer of Love” (2004) and since then she has participated in more than 40 features and television productions. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Gideons Daughter”, the Critics Choice Award for Best Action Movie Actress for “Edge of Tomorrow” or three nominations for the BAFTA awards for her roles in “The Devil Wears Prada” and “The Girl on the Train”.
The British Actress Honorary Ambassadors designation continues Spain Film Commissions mission as in the past years they have already distinguished the USAs ex ambassador in Spain, James Costos, the Spanish actress Aitana Sánchez Gijón and the Cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe, as well as Indian producer Ramji Natarajan and the filmmaker Terry Gilliam for their implication in promoting and fortifying the audiovisual industry in our country.
Spain Film Commission has returned to the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) to show the importance that the alliance between tourism and the audiovisual sector have in the reactivation of the industry after the Covid-19 crisis. This years edition of FITUR SCREEN –the area dedicated to film tourism- will be sponsored by Netflix and will host the presentation of the project Spain Screen Grand Tour: a program in which visitors will be able to visit numerous Spanish locations where some of the most recognized films and series have been filmed.
