26 audiovisual producers associations presented to ICAA a project of National Public Fund to Support Audiovisual Sector
The central theme of the meeting held this March in Santiago de Compostela by the representatives of 26 territorial associations of audiovisual producers, with the general director of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) was the project for the creation of the National Public Fund to Support the Audiovisual Sector (FASA) to finance Spanish audiovisual production.
Óscar Graefenhain defined it as "realistic and very interesting" and "it is the first step in a long negotiation that we will have to deal with the agents of the sector".
In the opinion of the producers, this model would allow "Spanish audiovisual to grow and be strengthened, developing to its full potential, depoliticizing it and allowing a progressive independence from the General Budgets of the State".
According to the project, National Public Support Fund for the Audiovisual Sector (FASA) would be supported, in its first year, with 68 million euros from the General State Budgets, 50 million from the film canon and 40 million from the canon to service companies on demand. So 158 million euros would be available. Furthermore, the projects previews a new progressive return by the companies that have perceived the aid, until the total amount is covered, in case the production obtains certain benefits.
