Alquézar, Huesca, Aragón
Alquézar is named after the castle built in the 9th century. In the 11th century it was strengthen by Sancho Ramírez and finally completed between the 15th and 16th century. The Romanesque Colegiata de Santa María is one of the most iconic buildings in the village.
The village spreads out below the castle and the Colegiata. The architectural ensemble keeps the medieval urban planning, the stone pavement and the Gothic city gate.
